Funded by NHS Lothian, this project delivers health education and awareness through seminars, courses and information materials. One of the ways we raise awareness is by organising a programme of BSL accessible Health Seminars. Some of the most popular Health Seminars which we have run in the past are listed below:

  • Stroke Awareness
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Police Safety Training
  • Depression Awareness

We plan our Health Seminars based on feedback from deaf people. If you would like to know more about a particular health or lifestyle-related topic, please get in touch with the Health Access Officer Leah Kalaitzi at leah.kalaitzi@deafaction.org to let her know.

The Health Project also runs courses that encourage a healthy and active lifestyle. For example:

  • Zumba
  • Tone, Stretch and Relax
  • Cookery classes to making tasty, healthy meals
