Health Project

Available in the following locations:
  • Edinburgh and The Lothians

Our Health Project supports members of the deaf* community to make healthy lifestyle choices.

Funded by NHS Lothian, this project delivers health education and awareness through seminars, courses and information materials. One of the ways we raise awareness is by organising a programme of BSL accessible Health Seminars. Some of the most popular Health Seminars which we have run in the past are listed below:

  • Stroke Awareness
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Police Safety Training
  • Depression Awareness

We plan our Health Seminars based on feedback from deaf people. If you would like to know more about a particular health or lifestyle-related topic, please get in touch with the Health Access Officer Leah Kalaitzi at to let her know.

The Health Project also runs courses that encourage a healthy and active lifestyle. For example:

  • Zumba
  • Tone, Stretch and Relax
  • Cookery classes to making tasty, healthy meals
