SQA Introduction to BSL – Access 3

If you’re new to sign language the best place to start is with our SQA Introduction to British Sign Language course.

This course will teach you the basics of the language and give you a solid foundation to build on as you progress through the levels.

You don’t need any prior experience or knowledge to join this course.

Course content

Throughout this course you will cover various topics including: numbers & time, family and home life, travelling to work / holidays, giving directions, food & drink, hobbies, activities and shopping. You will also begin to learn how to structure sentences using BSL grammar and syntax, begin to use non-manual features (facial expression and body language) and learn how to describe the placement of objects, rooms within buildings and people.

This course costs £350. This includes all course fees and SQA registration. A £50 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your place on the course. This course is eligible for ILA funding.

For all applications, excluding work sponsored places; a non-refundable deposit of £50 must be received with the application in order to secure a place on the course, with the remaining balance due for payment 2 weeks before the class start date.
